Hilton Podgorica: 500 m² of Italian herringbone and two off-catalogue colours

A five-star renovation: Ideal Legno Bistrot parquet in halls and the restaurant, separate greys for the rooftop bar and presidential suite.

The brief

Hilton Podgorica Crna Gora, a five-star hotel in Montenegro’s capital, underwent a major renovation. Floors had to meet the chain’s standards and still differ in character across the ballroom, restaurant, bar and presidential suite.

The solution

The Italian maker Ideal Legno supplied three floors:

  • about 500 m² of Bistrot parquet in Italian herringbone (spina italiana) for the Executive Lounge, ballroom, All Day Dining restaurant and wine room;
  • a dedicated grey tone for the rooftop bar;
  • another grey with a whitewashed (décapé) finish for the presidential suite.

None of these colours were in the standard catalogue — all three finishes were made to the client’s brief.

Takeaways for your project

  • Italian herringbone is a classic for hotel function spaces: the pattern holds the scale of a large room.
  • Bespoke colours from Italian makers are a working tool for hotels, not an exception.
  • Different zones of one hotel can have different tones with one species and one maker.

Ideal Legno collections, including Bistrot, are in the Domus Regia catalogue.
