Marble in the bathroom: polished or honed
How the stone finish affects safety, maintenance and how the bathroom looks in photos.

The same marble, polished or honed, is effectively two different bathroom materials.
Polished
A mirror finish brings out the veining and reflects light. We recommend polished stone for walls, vanity tops and headboards, where it is not underfoot and the sheen adds depth.
Honed
A ground surface without gloss. It is calmer, shows fewer water marks and suits floors, with better grip under wet feet.
Care
Marble is a carbonate stone and acids damage it: lemon, vinegar and some cleaning products. Before handover the stone is sealed, and housekeeping gets neutral cleaners. A honed surface can be re-ground on site if needed.
How to combine them
A common choice for guest rooms is a honed floor and a polished wall behind the bath in the same stone. The pattern stays consistent and the floor stays safe. Try it in the visualizer on the Spa bathroom scene.
