A historic hillside hotel in Kyoto renovated in 2021, with hansgrohe Raindance Select showers in guest rooms and AXOR ShowerHeaven in the exclusive suites.
The Westin Miyako Kyoto stands on a hillside east of the old imperial capital's centre and has welcomed guests since 1890. The property includes an 11-storey main building, an annex, pavilions modelled on Japanese tea houses and the historic Aoi-den and Kasui-en gardens.
In the 2021 renovation KKS Group designed the main building and Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP the annex, focusing on wood, natural tones and quiet elegance; the spa was also fully remodelled and now extends outdoors.
The fully renovated guest rooms have hansgrohe Raindance Select showers and AXOR Citterio M basin mixers. The Exclusive Suites feature the AXOR ShowerHeaven 1200/300 ceiling shower and the AXOR Select 670/90 thermostatic module, both iF Design Award 2018 winners.
