A Hilton lifestyle hotel in London's East End, where corridors are lined with plaster-effect Metropolitan wallcovering featuring integrated printed portraits of local artists.
Canopy London City was ACME's first large-scale hospitality project. The practice drew on the East End's textile heritage, aiming for a hotel that feels like an extension of its artistic neighbourhood.
Artist Mia Bergaron painted portraits of local resident artists, which had to be integrated into the corridor walls of the 340-bedroom hotel. The answer was Metropolitan, a plaster-effect wallcovering: its neutral, earthy palette gives an urban-loft mood, while the printed portraits become part of the wall itself.
The lift lobbies stand out with rich jewel tones and a vibrant striped pattern that lifts the whole scheme.
